He was 24 years old and about to graduate as a Production Engineer on the day of his arrest.
He was kidnapped by the Venezuelan because of the fact that he was traveling in a car with an American citizen from Maracaibo to Coro, they were in a car by post where each one had paid for their ticket. This was the beginning of the Venezuelan regime’s campaign to kidnap American citizens with the aim of forcing the US government to negotiate with them.
Regime officials planted high-caliber weapons in the car: a grenade launcher, a submachine gun, and C4 explosives, and accused them of planning to attack the Venezuelan oil industry and electrical system. The passenger of the car, including Marco, were tortured, threatened with firearms and sexual violence, Marco was able to act as a translator to prevent them from sexually abusing the American.
He has been arbitrarily detained for almost two years without evidence against him, and he has also been able to identify his torturers in the trials, the torturers were presented as witnesses.

Currently, he was transferred to a common prison, El Rodeo II, accused of terrorism, criminal association, treason and illegal possession of a weapon. his parents are forced to pay a monthly fee to an unknown figure in order to guarantee that Marco gets to have food and water.

Gustavo Tarre Briceño is a Venezuelan politician, lawyer, professor and diplomat. He was a deputy to the former Congress of the Republic within the VIII Legislature and head of the Copei parliamentary faction in the Chamber of Deputies. On January 22, 2019, he was appointed by the National Assembly as special representative of Venezuela before the Organization of the American States and was recognized by it on April 9, 2019. He has also been a columnist for El Nacional.
