Noguera Santiesteban was arrested on July 13, 2021, two days after anti-government protests across the country.

According to a report from the Cuban Observatory for Human Rights (OCDH), she was first held incommunicado in Técnico de San José, Mayabeque province and at the end of July she was transferred to ‘El Guatao’ in Havana.

She denounced through a letter that the protesters have been exposed to psychological and physical torture during their arrests.

In the letter, she recounted that “the cuban prison guards practiced physical and psychological torture, also to underage children by pointing a gun to their heads; and pulling out the prisoners nails and piercings with tweezers.

Noguera, along with other political prisoners, was one of the signatories of the letter sent to Miguel Díaz-Canel, they signed the letter with their blood, to demand their freedom.
