Ángela Lizbeth Expósito Carrillo is a Venezuelan and Spanish citizen that has dedicated her life to science, education and caring for abandoned animals. Her routine was interrupted on the night of September 21, 2018, when security officials from the Nicolás Maduro administration arrested her.
Without a warrant or explanation, they took Expósito away in a van. She was missing for a month and a half.
Ángela was imprisoned after being accused of hiding Henryberth Enmanuel Rivas Vivas, an alleged implicated in the so-called assassination attempt against Nicolás Maduro, which occurred on August 4, 2018.
The teacher did not escape the torture documented in the most recent report of the International Independent Fact-Finding Mission on Venezuela. Ángela has severe health complications, she suffers from asthma, has respiratory problems, growing thyroid nodules that must be treated urgently, and bacteriological problems on her skin.
