Cuban activist Angélica Garrido was sentenced to serve 3 years of imprisonment for demonstrating in the protests on July 11, 2021 in the town of Quivicán, Mayabeque.
She has a paralysis on the right side of her face, that left her with a smaller eye.
During the past year Garrido has been confined to punishment cells, received beatings, interrogations and threats.
Angélica is a mother of two children, who are now in the care of relatives.

Beatriz Becerra Basterrechea is a Spanish liberal politician and writer. In the 2014-2019 legislature of the European Parliament, she was vice president of the Human Rights subcommittee, forming part of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.
Between 2009 and 2014 he was part of the Board of Directors of Unión Progreso y Democracia as head of Communication. She was elected MEP in the 20143 European Parliament elections after running for the UPyD list.
She currently works as the General Director of Citizen Participation, Migration, Foreign Action, Development Cooperation, Transparency and Good Governance of the Malaga City Council.
