Arrested on August 13, 2018 by the DGCIM, accused of the attempted assassination of Nicolás Maduro in the Drone case. Since August 13, 2018, he has been detained at the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence DGCIM based in Boleíta. Until August 2018, he served as head of the National Anti-Drug Command of that component, but on the 13th of that month he was arrested inside his home without being shown a court order, without information as to why he was being detained.
The Working Group on Arbitrary Detention of the United Nations Organization (GTDA) requested his immediate release in 2020, recognizing his case as an arbitrary detention contrary to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
