In the afternoon of July 11, 2021, Arias García was part of the peaceful demonstration that took place in the Palma Soriano municipality, Santiago de Cuba . He along with other people demanded changes and loudly denounced those responsible for plunging the nation into chaos and repression. The patrols went against the demonstrators to suppress them. The violent repression was joined by abusers from the National Special Brigade, BEN, “Black Berets”, and people dressed in civilian clothes and without identifying themselves.
Jorge Reinier was the victim of brutal abuse at the headquarters of the PCC Municipal Committee of Palma Soriano to the point of losing a tooth. He was not shown any arrest warrant. He was not informed about his rights and constitutional guarantees of the Criminal Process. He was taken to the “El Energético” detention center, also known as “Polipalo”. From there he was transferred to the “Boniato” Maximum Security Penitentiary Center. Both in Santiago de Cuba.

Observations
Graduated in Law from the University of Deusto, in 1984 he joined the Higher Corps of State Civil Administrators as a civil servant. In his career in the General State Administration, he has held, among other positions, those of deputy secretary of the Hispanic-North American Council (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), deputy general director of Information Dissemination (Ministry of the Spokesman) and Information Counselor of the Embassy of Spain in the UK (1992-1996).
After the 1996 elections, José María Aznar proposed him as Secretary General of the Presidency of the Government, a position in which he remained during the two legislatures in which Aznar presided over the Government of Spain.
Included in sixth place on the PP list for the 2019 European Parliament elections in Spain, Zarzalejos was elected deputy for the period 2019-2024 Integrated in the political group of the European People’s Party (EPP), he joined the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) and the Delegation for relations with Canada (D-CA ).
